Metropolis Movie Posters
Using none of the film’s images, we were told to create one image poster and one type poster to explain the chosen metaphors or themes for the movie. For Metropolis, I was drawn to the religious themes within it, so for my image poster, I wanted to depict a modern version of the Tower of Babel, showing a modern, technological version of an angelical eye looking down on the workers of Metropolis. For my type poster, I wanted to talk about how the seven deadly sins manifest and make their way into the city, causing chaos, so I made a type staircase out of the sins leading them to Metropolis.

French Atlases
Choosing a country or state of our choice, we chose 1-2 topics to visually explain to our audience about the location we chose, using hierarchy, color, and of course, information. For me, I chose France! For side 1, I wanted to talk about the romanticization of France and the things shown to reel people in, versus the issues that aren’t, such as the ongoing protests against racism and police brutality. For side 2, I wanted to talk about the give and take of culture and iconography, specifically in architecture, whether it be through gifts or colonization/conquering.

Patterns
Using color and hierarchy, we took a flower, mine being the Japanese Spider Lily, and simplified it into symbols that could fit and represent a culture/period. We then created 2 patterns out of them. My pattern sheets in order are Greek, Palestinian, Japanese, Italian, and Art Nouveau.
